To migrate to Version 6 of ProCal you will need to install a free copy of SQL Server from Microsoft. Transmille recommends that SQL Server 2012 (Service Pack 2) and above are used.
SQL Server 2012 can be downloaded from Microsoft at the following link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29062.
On the download page, ensure that the file ENU\x64\SQLEXPRWT_x64_ENU.exe is selected for download (File Size 669.9MB). Please note that a 64 bit operating system is required to host the SQL instance.
Run the installer and follow the steps below :
Run the downloaded .exe file, and select 'New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation'.
At the next screen, ensure that you tick the 'Include SQL Server Product Updates' to make sure that you have the latest version for a fresh install.
The installer will download and extract any additional files that are required.
When the installer proceeds to the next screen, ensure that 'Perform a new installation of SQL Server 2012' is selected.
After reading the software licence terms for SQL Server 2012 Express (Please note that this software is provided by Microsoft and not Transmille), tick the 'I accept the license terms' check box and click 'next'.
Ensure that Database Engine Services is ticked (the default selection) and click 'next'.
On the following screen, select 'Named Instance' and enter TRANSMILLE for the name of the instance and click 'Next'. If SQL Server is already installed on your computer/server the existing instances will appear in a list below. If the TRANSMILLE instance already exists please contact your systems administrator as you may already have ProCal installed.
Ensure that the SQL Server Database Engine and SQL Server Browser services are set to Startup Type 'Automatic' and click 'next'.
Select the 'Mixed Mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication)' options and enter a password. Transmille advise using the password 'transmilleProcal' however this should only be used on systems that are not accessible from the internet.
NOTE - THIS PASSWORD IS REQUIRED TO CREATE TABLES, USERS ETC. PLEASE ENSURE THAT IT IS MEMORABLE.
If desirable, tick the error reporting confirmation box on the next page, however, this can be left unchecked.
Clicking Next starts the installation which can take up to 20 minutes. During this time the computer/server should not be restarted.
After completing the installation and restarting the computer, the Transmille ProCal server configuration utility can be downloaded and run. This configures the database with no information, ready to be populated by ProCal, ProCal-Track, and ProSales.
