This article is intended for users that are running their ProCal SQL Database on a PC that is also being used to operate the software. Customers that are replacing server infrastructure should contact Transmille directly for advice.
- Generate a backup file on the existing system and save this to the new PC as this will be needed for bringing the data into the new system. For more information on scheduling backups, please see this article: https://support.transmille.com/a/solutions/articles/9000144136.
- Take a copy of the existing C:\ProCal folder.
- On the new PC, install the software and database by following the steps below. Please ensure every step is followed:
- Download the software installer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v7sevqkhx8yff9m/ProCal%20-%20Full%20Software%20Suite%20Installation.exe?dl=1.
- Follow this guide to use the software installer: https://support.transmille.com/solution/articles/9000151785-installation-guide-individual-standalone-installation-.
- It is highly recommended that SQL Server Management Studio is downloaded and installed on the same machine hosting the SQL Instance – it can be downloaded here: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2014306.
- Configure your SQL Instance. Please ensure that the 'create connection strings' step at the end of the guide is completed: https://support.transmille.com/solution/articles/9000131423-configuring-a-new-server-installation.
- Configure your SQL Instance for network use if other computers will be connecting to this database: https://support.transmille.com/solution/articles/9000133689-configuring-sql-server-for-network-access.
- Go to the software update page and download and install the latest updates (you will need to log in to the support system): https://support.transmille.com/a/solutions/folders/9000184856.
- On the new PC, restore the database backup taken at the beginning of this article. To restore the database, please follow this guide: https://support.transmille.com/a/solutions/articles/9000171015.
- To use the same update version as the previous system:
- From the copy of the ProCal folder from the old PC, copy the following folders/files and paste them to the corresponding location on the new PC. Overwrite if prompted:
- C:\ProCal\Programs\ProCal.exe
- C:\ProCal\Programs\ProSet.exe
- C:\ProCal\Programs\ProEdit.exe
- C:\ProCal\Programs\ProCert.exe
- C:\ProCal-Track\ProCal-Track.exe (if ProCal-Track is being used on the system)
- C:\ProSales\ProSales.exe (if ProSales is being used on the system)
- From the copy of the ProCal folder from the old PC, copy the following folders/files and paste them to the corresponding location on the new PC. Overwrite if prompted:
- To transfer labels, reports, etc, copy the relevant folders from the copy of the ProCal folder from the older system:
- Reports: ProCal\Reports_SQL
- Labels: ProCal\Lables
- Procedure prompt and help files: ProCal\Procedures
- Connection prompts: ProCal\Connection Prompts
- You should now be able to launch the software and use it as before. There may be an issue with file paths, if they were configured to the old PC. If this is the case and the software fails to launch, please contact Transmille for further assistance.
- To allow other PCs to connect to the new database, update the SQL connection files on the station PC(s) to match the ones on the newly installed PC.
