Checking/Assigning Traceable Instruments/Standards at the Start of a Calibration

Modified on Tue, 21 Sep 2021 at 08:23 AM

When starting a calibration, the software will check for traceable instrument categories that are required by the procedure. The following items are checked:

  • Traceable instrument categories that have been manually assigned to the procedure.
  • Test types in the procedure that require certain traceable instrument categories.
  • Traceable instrument categories that have been manually assigned to specific tests within the procedure.
  • Traceable instruments that have been manually assigned to specific tests within the procedure.
  • Traceable instrument categories that are referenced by formulas in specific tests within the procedure.

If the software detects that the station starting the calibration does not have an instrument/standard assigned that matches any requirements found, users will be prompted to select an instrument/standard from within the required traceable instrument categories as required by the procedure.

To assign instruments when prompted:

  • Select the instrument to be assigned from the list that is presented.
  • Click “Assign Once” to assign the instrument for this calibration procedure only. Once the calibration procedure is completed, the instrument will be removed from the station’s assignment list.
    1. If the selected instrument is outside of its calibration period, the user will not be allowed to assign the instrument until it is amended in ProSet to confirm that the instrument is within its calibration period.
  • Click “Assign Permanently” to assign the instrument to this station permanently. This assignment can then be edited/removed using the traceable instrument assignment feature in ProSet. (https://support.transmille.com/a/solutions/articles/9000201838)
    1. If the selected instrument is outside of its calibration period, the user will not be allowed to assign the instrument until it is amended in ProSet to confirm that the instrument is within its calibration period.
  • Click “Cancel” to exit instrument assignment. This will abandon the calibration procedure, as it cannot continue without required traceable instruments/standards.

All relevant assigned traceable instruments, including those assigned via ProSet or ProCal on previous calibration procedures will appear in the traceable instrument display grid for user verification.

Please note that if any traceable instrument on the assigned list is outside of its calibration period, the calibration procedure will not be allowed to continue.
