Configuring a VISA Alias using National Instruments MAX

Modified on Wed, 3 Mar, 2021 at 8:44 AM

Note - This document is not designed to replace National Instruments documentation and is valid for version 17.5 at the time of writing.

To simplify communicating with VISA UUT's custom Alias' may be set to shorten device identification strings. To configure an Alias for a device, open NI Max and navigate to the Instrument that you wish to assign an Alias.

Modify the NAME field to the desired Alias (in this case UUT) and click the SAVE key.

Communication with the VISA instrument can now be performed in ProCal using the Alias rather than the longer VISA resource Name.
